Pyrotechnics

When dealing with pyrotechnics, extreme caution should be taken, and an adult should be on hand the entire time.  I am not liable for any injuries that may arise due to the information provided.  This is for informational purposes only.   Fireworks are usually quite expensive, and are sometimes not easy to find.  Certain fireworks can easily be made at home, and they're really easy on your wallet.  Some of these fireworks are: smoke bombs, firecrackers, black powder, flash powder, and almost anything that lights on fire... if you use creativity.  I get all of my chemicals from United Nuclear.  Don't let the name sway you, this is a very reliable website with very reasonable prices.  I also recommend Science For You (mostly for pyrotechnics).  This website has very good prices for firework making supplies, but for standard chemicals and metals, I would stick with United Nuclear.  I have one more website which I have never used, but the reviews are great and the prices are ridiculously low.  E-Crater may just be the best website in the world (well, aside from mine)!  First, we will deal with smoke bombs.  Smoke bombs are fun to light off with other fireworks, or just by themselves.  They also make a great addition to a paintball or airsoft war.  Some very basic smoke bombs consist of just burning plastic or rubber.  The one I will show you today uses potassium nitrate and sugar.  Potassium Nitrate can be easily purchased online at Science For You.  Take 30 grams of Potassium Nitrate and 20 grams of granulated sugar (60/40 ratio), and mix together in a small metal saucepan, on medium-low heat (don't worry, the saucepan can cook food safely right after being washed).  Stirring constantly with a spoon, the mixture will soon look like brown sugar, then like peanut butter.  Once it looks like peanut butter, remove it from heat (if it starts to turn black, it is on too high heat).  To use it, just plop some on the ground and place a fuse in it.  After 5 minutes it will be as hard as a rock (it will stick to surfaces, but can be taken off by a few taps with a hammer.Light the fuse and watch as a gray smoke erupts from the small blob.  You can set the goo in a cardboard tube if looks are important to you, but it is fine just as a blob.  Next I am going to show you how to make black powder.  Black powder is extremely versatile and can be used as a propellant, part of a fuse, and a handful of other things.  Unlike flash powder, black powder converts to a gas quite slowly, where as flash powder does it so fast that even when placed in a tube with open ends, it just blows the whole thing up.  Black powder can be made with 150 grams of potassium nitrate, 30 grams of charcoal powder (not grilling charcoal), and 20 grams of sulfur.  To make good black powder, you must use a ball mill.  Unless you already have one, I don't suggest purchasing one, as they are very expensive.  If you don't have one, use a mortar and pestle to crush the ingredients together.  If you have don't have either, sorry but I can't help you with this.  When using this mix as lifting powder, add a few drops of water.  The more that the ingredients are crushed, the better the powder will work.  Flash powder is the next awesome homemade thing that I will show you how to make.  Potassium perchlorate and the highest mesh aluminum powder possible (at least 400).  Add 30 grams of aluminum powder to 70 grams of potassium perchlorate (3/7 ratio).  On a small piece of paper, slowly slide the ingredients back and forth until mixed well.  The reason that they are mixed like this is because flash powder is extremely sensitive to static and impact.  Flash powder should not be lit directly with a match or lighter.  Using a fuse is 1000 times safer. With flash powder, firecrackers are very very easy to make.  To make the firecracker, seal a small amount of the powder in tissue paper and wrap that with paper.  even if the ends are open the Flash powder ignites so fast that it will destroy the whole thing anyway.  These are some basic fireworks that most of you people should be satisfied with.  If you are not impressed by now, you definitely will be soon.  Just press the link that applies to you: I cannot control myself near explosives and should not be trusted with more information than i already have
I am a terrorist            I am responsible enough to control myself around pyrotechnics
